To my wonderful patients- In a few short weeks, I will be stepping away from my clinic position at the Cambridge Medical Center and into a new role as a hospitalist physician. As I reflect back on my 20 year career in the clinic, I want to to express my deep gratitude to each and every one of you that have trusted me with your care over the years. When my family and I arrived in 2004 with a tiny baby and plans to build our life here, we wanted to be part of the fabric of the commu- nity. We wanted to live where we worked and we wanted to raise our children here. Over these years, I have gotten to know so many of you as neighbors, friends, coaches, and teachers. We have watched our kids grow, cheered them on in sports, volunteered together, and watched their concerts and performances. It is everything I dreamed of as small town family doctor. Just as we have watched our children grow, we too have grown up and older together. I've had the honor of walking beside you, my patients, through our journey together. I have been present through your joy and your pain. I treasure my memories of delivering your babies, holding your hands, giving hugs, sharing achievements, and honoring passings. What a singular life it has been to bear witness to the every day and the extraordinary, the vulnerable and the brave, and the beauty that lies within each of you. I have seen you exhibit outstanding strength, overcome tremendous adversity, and defy odds. You, my patients, have been my greatest teachers. I have learned through the years that the best things happen when we work together as a team to not only manage your health, but to help you to learn to be well and to continue to live in wellness. I have also received these gifts from you, dear patients, as I have learned to find balance and wellness alongside you. Many of you have asked what a hospitalist doctor does. I will still be working here in Cambridge at the hospital. Along with the hospital team, I will care for patients admitted to the hospital and see patients through to discharge. I am excited for the opportunity to stay in the community, continue to care for you and your families, and to continue to grow in my career.
