ISANTI COUNTY AWARDED FEDERAL FUNDS Isanti County has been awarded Federal Funds for Phase 41. The source of funding is a Federal Appropriation from Congress to the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. The National Board selects jurisdictions (cities and counties) for funding, not specific agencies. The federal depart- ment responsible for this program is the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These are not state/county government funds or United Way Funds. A Local Board will determine how the funds awarded are to be distributed. Isanti County has been chosen to receive $19,311 in Phase 41 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Isanti County. Local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private volun- tary non-profits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice non-discrimination, 5) have demon- strated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private voluntary organization, have a volunteer board.
